We visited the XYZ OPEN CITY - an open source city under Creative Commons license at Kunsthal Aarhus
Original post from Mar 20, 2015
XYZ OPEN City is an open source, modular, low cost system that persons in local communities can use as a tool to implement a wide range of shared functions in public space. It can be used to build anything from urban gardens to fully functional insulated housing.
XYZ is a DIY urban planning tool - an alternative to the top down urban planning that dominates most cities in the world; it is also an alternative to state or private ownership and a revolutionary tool to empower the people and new means of (sustainable) production.
Factory - a concept for building cities brought by N55. Using aluminum tubes, other light and cheap materials powered by solar energy, and a LEGO like technique of assemblage, it is possible to build your own XYZ city.
Transport - (cargo) bicycles are built to transport people and goods. A structure for mobile housing is available too.
Most architects, urban planners, designers, artists etc. are more than willing to work for the classical concentrations of power despite that these concentrations of power do not necessarily respect the rights of people / persons. The layout and use of urban environments in most places in the world is dictated by the system - governments, policies etc. XYZ OPEN City wants to change this!
:: visit the prototype city at Kunstal ( congrats for the organizers for bringing the 'anarchist' project in a public space)

Tridimensional Cranium with a Bieber touch in Aarhus
This is an insane mural left after Aarhus Festuge by Grisk we definitely recommend to see yourself.
Famous pop-icon visited it, just so you know this is going hypermainstream :) so... here's the Justin Bieber selfie version of the flip-your-eyes cranium:

Is Mario back in the city?
Did you also noticed these magic mushrooms popping out on the city of Aarhus walls? Is it a Christmas thing or just the old 'amanita pixelated muscaria' vibe? Anyways, <3 it!

There's a street art calendar for 2017 in Aarhus and you might want to have it :)
With 2017 approaching fast, you might already think about your next calendar format for home or office. If you love street art and Aarhus city as much as we do, you can get the monthly calendar 2017 and enjoy twelve amazing street art images we selected for you.
Check out the preview below:

If you like it and decide to take the printed version in your office, home or summer house, you can order it through a private message on our Facebook page. Be aware there's a limited edition!
We'll tell you all the details about price and delivery in the message. You just have to think now of a place where to hang or place the calendar. Isn't it so cool to have the street art calendar just in time for Aarhus Capital of Culture 2017?
We think the same <3

F L O W E R of the autumn
The fantastic moon phases of GRISK
Grisk is one of those street art projects you cannot miss if you go for a walk in the harbor near Sydhavn. We enjoy the new works depicting this alien moon, plenty of boats and more cultural hints from the city of smiles.
Aarhus poster remix / 1982 to 2016
Did this remix with the smartphone in a hostel room in Aarhus. Quite funny to see how the sunlight beams could be replaced by an actual Ikea lamp. Does it fit? Well, I think so. Especially in the light of the new autumn weather. What do you think?
:: do you know the name of the original poster artist?

'Street Art Aarhus' is looking for collaborating project managers in Aarhus, Denmark
We are working on an international street art project that wants to create links between European cities and street artists, spotting 'legal' walls where fellow travelers and local artists can express themselves freely. It's an exciting project and Street Art Aarhus is invited to take part.
Since none of our team members lives permanently in Aarhus at the moment, we are looking for someone who loves street art and is interested in managing this project. The candidate we are looking for must be good at spotting places for street artists in the city, communicate with the artists and sometimes authorities and know a little bit about mapping and mobile apps. The position is volunteer based (unpaid), but the project manager has full liberty to develop the project in partnership with the creators of this project, based in Barcelona, Spain. As a project manager, you can identify yourself funding sources, establish partnerships and work with various stakeholders. That means that in the future there's a possibility to create your own job starting from this project opportunity. So if you want to be part of a very interesting international street art project and have some spare time to develop it, we guarantee it's at least great fun. If you are interested and want to know all the details about the project, responsibilities and working scheme, please send a mail at colajinpicaj@gmail.com and we'll be right back at you.
Cheers ;)
