Favorite danish urban artists - Rune Christensen

Rune is a self-taught artist.

''In my paintings I try to express the thoughts and feelings I experience in meeting with people and places in the world I move in.

The process begins with a thought about - and a sense of something indefinable that must be expressed. Often I take a lot of photos of people around me, looking at leaves, rocks, accounting and ends with some compositions that fit the idea and feeling I try to express in the work. I work a lot with patterns and colors, and has brought a lot of inspiration from my travels, mainly to Asia, where traditional costumes, decorating temples, prayer flags, etc. have had a great impact on my style and interest.

I work mainly with acrylic and Posca, and very fond of the expression as brushstrokes and illustration work together expresses.

I have spent the last 4 years traveling and travels have brought me to countries like India, Nepal, China, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Jordan, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Canada, USA, Indonesia, the Philippines, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia And it is from these travels, I find my inspiration.
Many of the countries I travel to is spiced with colors, scents, music and architecture which is us in the northern very remote.

It's hard for me to pinpoint what exactly is in a country that inspires me. It is often just the thoughts and emotions that arise in the meeting with the country and its people.''
